Italian Pizza- Recipe to make it at home

The word pizza explains food innovationtastes very well, and makes it whenever it is served. It is a comfort food for one and all. Italian Pizza is a flatbread, layered with a sauce, vegetables, and cheese and then baked and cut into wedges to be served with chili flakes and oregano. The basic ingredients for its preparation are flour, yeast, water, and salt.

Modern pizza has been innovated in Naples in Italy. Its crust and sauce come from Papa John’s Pizza chain hub.

Italy is very known for its food such as pasta, risotto, wine, mozzarella cheese, tiramisu, pizza, and many more. Pizza is a delicacy liked by all age groups and sex. Various records have been noted in the Guinness Book for the largest pizza, longest pizza, and most expensive pizza.

Pizza margarita is very popular in Italy.

The colors in this represent the flag of Italy. Red by tomato sauce, white by mozzarella cheese, and green by fresh basil leaves.

Let us look at the recipe for the pizza margarita –

Ingredients for the preparation of Margarita Pizza –

  1. Water
  2. Instant dried yeast
  3. White flour
  4. Salt
  5. Tomatoes
  6. Olive oil
  7. Garlic
  8. Clove
  9. Oregano
  10. Red pepper flakes
  11. Basil leaves
  12. Mozzarella cheese
  13. Parmesan cheese 
  14. Pepperoni
  15. Sausage

Recipe of Italian Pizza

Preparation of red tomato sauce –

  1. Take tomatoes, and garlic and puree it. Add other ingredients as per your taste and requirement.
  2. Add olive oil to the pan at medium flame.
  3. To hot oil add clove and basil, then add the puree to it and simmer it with water to get a good thick consistency like a catch-up. 
  4. Cook it for 5 min. Add salt to it.

Preparation of the dough –

  1. Take half a teaspoon of yeast, a little salt and add it to three tablespoons of warm water.
  2. Take a large bowl with flour in it. Add water to it until all the flour comes together. And keep for 30 min to rest.
  3. Then add the yeast mixture to it and knead the dough well. Take the dough from beneath from one side and upside down it to the other side of the dough 4-5 times. 
  4. Pad the dough with a little olive oil and let it rest for half an hour to double its size. The dough is ready now.

Baking/ Preparation of pizza base-

  1. Cut the prepared dough into pieces according to the size of the ball required for making a pizza.
  2. Roll a single ball and make it flat with gentle hands and check the thickness for its proper baking.
  3. Bake it for 10-15 min at 500°F.
  4. Poke the dough before baking so that other flavors can penetrate it.

Toppings for the dish-

  1. To the baked flat bread add the tomato sauce layer.
  2. Add sauces, vegetables, and cheese as per your taste.
  3. Saute the vegetables/ sausage before adding it to the bread.
  4. Bake it further just for 5 min so that the cheese can seep in and melt to make it soft.

How to Serve Pizza?

  1. Cut the pizza into wedges.
  2. Serve it with chili flakes, catch-up, and oregano.

How to Store Leftover Pizza?

  1. You can store prepared pizza in a refrigerator for 3-4 days.
  2. You can also keep the dough in the refrigerator for 4-5 days.

Keep pizza/ dough in an airtight container or wrapped in cling film/ plastic wrap.

Tips– A most important thing in pizza preparation is proper kneading of the dough to make it soft and maintaining the thickness of the base for proper cooking.

Pizza is a great choice for taste but not so good for health.
